I Want to Buy Your Book and Review It

sell your book

I want to buy your book!

But I have Suspended Submissions for the Time Being. Check Back Mar 1.

If you have written and electronically published a book, fiction or nonfiction, I’d like to become one of your readers and I want to review your book. In January, Google Plus member Charles Barouch, a brilliant man, created a contest wherein #authors and #writers can expand the reach of their books, and I mirrored his efforts. You may recognize awesome opportunities to expand your sales if your book wins! I’ll review your book at Amazon, at GoodReads.com, and often, the winning book will be the subject of a critique post here at OnText.com.

Here’s how my version of the book buy contest works.

Each month, at least through 2013, I will buy no fewer than one digital book or ebook from an author in the Google+ community. Price to be between 99 cents and $9.99. If you aren’t a member, it’s free to join Google+.

Winners will be posted on OnText contest page and at Google+. To be considered, respond to my post at Google+ or here on the OnText blog, with EXACTLY four things:

  1. Book title
  2. List price
  3. Your actual blurb on Amazon or Smashwords or where ever you published your book
  4. The full link to buy the book.

Note: Just those four things.

I will buy the book that grabs me based on title and blurb. I will post a review of the first chapter one week after each contest closes. Monthly closing date is the 24th.

Note: If this is reposted, you need to comment to the original post on OnText or reply to the original post at Google+ to be considered. Sorry, no emails, Facebooks, or other forms of entries will be considered. Good luck — I’m looking forward to reading your book!

  7. Hello, and here’s the details on my novel Elysian Dreams. Great idea by the way, thanks!
Elysian Dreams by BJ Neblett Literary fiction/romantic adventure

    Book Description
    Publication Date: May 26, 2011
Professor Collin Crowly is a popular college history teacher, carefree man-about-town, and confirmed bachelor. He seems to have it all: good friends, a great career, a stunning large, old mansion, and the Crowly family name and fortune.

The day beautiful Angelina walked into his classroom, it all changed. Soon trapped within the very pages of the history he loves and teaches, Collin Crowly finds himself with one too many girlfriends, one too many enemies . . . and one too many lives.

Pretty, demure student Angelina would love to have the professor’s problems. The alluring, restless blonde is dissatisfied with her life. Seeking out the elusive pieces of her incomplete, imperfect past, she dreams of one day escaping her mundane existence. A happier, more carefree and exciting life beckons to Angelina from beyond time itself. Answering its call, what she discovers is to be very careful about what she wishes for—as it just may come true.
Highly intelligent and slightly nerdy high school student Marsha lives an idyllic, peaceful life with her mom, Angela. Like most teens, Marsha struggles with her own feelings of being a misplaced soul, trapped in a life she neither understands nor feels comfortable in. Lost between her dreams and a perplexing reality, she searches the heavens for answers. Longing to find her place she discovers the key to her future may lie hidden in the past.

As the trio desperately seeks answers, their lives unexpectedly and repeatedly cross. Only the ageless and enigmatic Lachesis seems to understand the powers which inexplicably draw them together. But, it is Collin Crowly’s family legacy and his mysterious mansion, Casa di Tempo containing a hidden portal to the past that sets the stage for a romantic adventure across both space and time.

Elysian Dreams transports the reader from the grimy, violent streets of the prohibition era Philadelphia to a peaceful Amish community—and from the visions of a young girl to the beckoning midnight skies and beyond. It is an exhilarating search for answers . . . to be found only in another world.

  10. Continuity

Most people are dull and void of any substance. They trudge through life like scenery for the people who actually live it. But that’s not just how they seem; that’s truly what they are—soulless Meat Suits, made by Guardians, with no idea that they’re less. Since the beginning of time, there have always been only 3,137 everlasting human souls in the universe; never one more and never one less. Until now.

Mason Fiske was a simple Suit, playing a role in the backdrop of an Authentic human. Now he’s more. With his newfound ability to heal, he’s being called the new messiah. Throngs gather for his touch, but Mason doesn’t know that every time he heals a Suit, he gives it a soul by ripping away a little part of the Guardian who created it. He’s killing Guardians. If he can’t be stopped, the Guardians will die and the physical world that they maintain for Authentics will be shattered, forcing mankind to ascend from its earthly existence long before it’s ready. This is exactly what the Others want.

    C. Allen Brown’s unique debut novella is a rocket-paced glimpse into obsession and desire. Love may heal, but love corrupted leads to very dark deeds.

  11. Hi Maryan, I’d love to take part.

    1. Wake of the Raven

    2. $9.99

    3. Wake of the Raven is a story of the world’s corruption, of forbidden desire and its awful consequences. In 1951 Stuart seeks to repair his broken marriage, and heads back to England in pursuit of his faithless wife. He must first cross the South China Sea to Singapore, a minor step in a long journey. But when an accident burdens him with the care of a precocious girl, the journey becomes a nightmarish odessey through storm, desire and death.

The mere hundred miles or so of sea is now an impassable barrier, confining him and his bitter thoughts to a narrow strip of sand and jungle, and he is reduced to an animal struggle for survival, with nothing but the girl and thoughts of the dead as companions.

Evil wars in Stuart with good, and desire with conscience. But when the girl’s greater problems arouse his sympathy, it seems that good will triumph, for he unselfishly promises his help.

The result is a disgrace that strides towards him fully armed, with disgrace, murder and suicide clenched in its fists.

  12. Nine of my books are in digital format at Smashwords, including Crash Dummies and The Third Awakening. I have twelve print books at http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/crashdummies, fiction, non-fiction and poetry. I do not yet have a digital version of New Institutes: A Primer of Practical Theology for 21st Century America, which retails in print for $14.00; but if you should want to review it, I can email you a .PDF attachment of the manuscript. I include its description below.
    –Dennis Weiser

    Crash Dummies
Marty Kayo has a hunch about the universe and his destiny in it.
His hunch may be right. But his new job as elite courier has dropped
him in a mine-field of betrayal in Honduras. Somebody’s painted a
target on his back. Everybody wants something this courier’s got. Yet
nobody can identify Marty…except the contract killers sent to murder him. Marty’s fate will be linked to a pair of hazy heroes whose spy craft resembles dual personality disorder, a crackpot physicist with a curiously missing cat, a lost codex with instructions for time travel, and a vengeful Mayan sorceress with some serious baggage.
Though no one suspects…the past is about to catch up with everyone.

    The Third Awakening
The Third Awakening is a grim, erotic, eco-friendly, sci-fi fantasy
satire about corporate culture and the superior beings who have come to
save Earth from itself and human beings from their darker side. As Sam
helps the Joracians in their daunting enterprise, he wins their favor
and is initiated into the secret circles of Joracian power. But…all he
really wants is—to get with Sylvia!

New Institutes: A Primer of Practical Theology for 21st Century America
A work of practical theology that reexamines and reinterprets key
concepts and traditional theistic arguments of Western Christianity
from the perspective of global economics and ecology. Refreshing and
entirely original, NEW INSTITUTES takes seriously the eschatology of
theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, harmonizing the sister religions of
Judaism, Christianity and Islam with New Age Spirituality, and offers
a modern interpretation of three key concepts of Christian theology:
faith, death and resurrection. Weiser examines classical arguments of
Anselm, Aquinas and Descartes, providing an appendix on logic and
epistemology. Also considered: atheism, gods and goddesses, Calvinism,
Jesus’ mission, intelligent design, Christian ethics, science and
religion. This is a work that clears the air of cant and drivel,
consigning the evangelical bunk of Pat Robertson and Jack Van Impe,
of religionist and anti-religionist alike, to the flames.

    3. In 2075, David Gill, an engineer, arrives in Los Angeles to sell food to Moonbeam Enterprises. He finds Moonbeam reeling from a fraudulent stock sale and he is made an offer he cannot refuse: join the first expedition to settle on Mars as part of a Moonbeam team and set up major food production facilities for a giant corporation that is temporarily banned from going to Mars, and which cannot then be associated with Martian settlement. As the venture proceeds, David becomes increasingly suspicious of the motives of Moonbeam’s leader, Robbie Newall. More than once he is shot at, but perhaps his biggest problem involves a mercurial Jacqui Tennant, a Space Corps pilot who desperately wants to keep the large corporations off Mars. When on Mars, David’s troubled marriage disintegrates when his wife takes up with Robbie, encounters with Jacqui become increasingly unpredictable, then David becomes aware that Robbie’s objective is to create a Mars bubble through stock floats on Earth, and the absence of anything real to float is no problem. Then, when David makes a totally unexpected discovery that guarantees the settlement will be successful, he also learns that Moonbeam is floating his discovery. David, and a few members of the Space Corps, feel they must stop this fraud, but there is a problem: Newall has smuggled guns to Mars and men to use them.

The story is full of action in unusual environments, but it also shows the anatomy of a particular type of fraud, and shows some of the signs of what to look for. Also, the “unexpected discovery” involves an alternative theory of planetary formation, which delayed this publication as it was developed. An appendix outlines this alternative in simple language for those interested.

  18. 1) American Zen
    2) $4.99 on Kindle
    3) What is redemption worth and what are you willing to risk for it? Five friends, three decades, one band and a set list of rock and roll songs that had defined their unique dynamic and generation, American Zen is an alternately tragic and hilarious week in the lives of four friends in search of the fifth who broke up their band. Hunting for their ex-front man Dave, their odyssey becomes a wider and deeper search for salvation and meaning. During their road trip throughout the eastern seaboard, their amities are put to the test while realizing how much they can and can’t afford to risk. What unfolds is a story of undying friendship driving home the point that even salvation and redemption can come at a high price. Rob the conflicted Zen master, Billy the suicidal ex-SEAL, the ailing Jo Jo, his husband Jeremy and Mike Flannigan our narrator learn how cruel the last three decades have been to them. As they reluctantly seek the truth behind their breakup, the reunion garners for them more infamy and notoriety than they’d ever had as a group. Yet on their road to redemption, they give the best and most soul-defining performances of their lives even in the midst of scandal, gang violence and sudden death. American Zen offers a snapshot of a nation in painful transition. As Barack Obama is about to take the reins as President, Mike is virtually the only political journalist currently not writing about the incoming administration. As America looks forward to change, Mike struggles with that in his and his friends’ lives, realizing that, while the game too changes, the rules remain the same.
This is American life and death. This is American rock and roll. This… is American Zen.

  20. One Two Buckle My Shoe
    £1.28 / $2.07
In books, detectives nearly always work alone, although some don’t mind an admiring sidekick as they deftly and efficiently go about their business. In real life, murder isn’t always straightforward and clues can be much more elusive. In this particular case, just finding out who exactly got murdered was the first challenge.

The residents at Grasshopper Lawns were closely interested, because the murderer could be among them, but hadn’t any intention of interfering in the solving of the case. Piecing together scraps of information was intriguing, though. And they did keep coming across facts that no-one had given to the police –

This is the first in the quite light-hearted murder series based in the rather unusual retirement village, Grasshopper Lawns. Which doesn’t really have any grasshoppers. Certainly no purple ones.

    The Mists of Adriana
This mystery/thriller is set on the coast of Maine. The principal character/narrator is a man in his middle year. An army officer in Vietnam, upon returning from his first tour he learned his wife had died unexpectedly. His response was to go back to Vietnam where he tried to get dead the next two years. Finally he was sent home by a commanding officer who felt he was worth more alive than dying a
mourning death. His principal enjoyment comes from early morning drives around Mt. Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park. It is on one of these early morning drives that he stops to help a fellow motorist stranded with car trouble. It is then he meets the semi-mysterious Adriana Barrows.

An early summer/early autumn relationship begins to develop as he learns more and more about Adriana’s past. And soon he learns again one of the lessons he learned in combat in Vietnam: when things seem too good to be true, they often are. To be sure, Adriana is a strong and independent woman; a linquist who has a background in the war on drugs. And something more: a fascination for him that he finds he must explore in “The Mists of Adriana.”

He “retired” to a small house on the Maine coast where he became a writer and photographer.

    1) Tyme and Yon Serpent (Serpent’s Tail)
    2) $4.99 USD (Also available in other countries in Nook, Kindle, .PDF, and printed matter)

M.J. Holmes sets the stage and narrates the travels of strangely assorted characters in their pursuits to save the post-cataclysmic world of Bu’Kre’Knunkt. Based on a plot written for a Role-Playing Game, in Act 1; Book 1, Holmes lays the foundation of the Scorched Reality Project: Gamma Series, and creates an enigmatic flashback of events.

He begins by introducing the Council of Control (“The 5”) – a shadow government of sorts – as they oversee events. Their watchful eyes follow the pursuits of “The Two”: A Necromancer and a mysteriously disguised Narrator who relates to him the tale of The Dhuras Protectorate.

Quested by Divine Intervention to locate and destroy the source of a threatening instability, “The Otherworlders” begin their trek having neither any knowledge of the world they’ve been transported to nor idea what they should do next. Thrust into one peril after another they struggle to adapt and survive; becoming bounty hunters, exterminators, and conscripts of the city religion on their way to entitlement as a Protectorate. An item found in their questing is identified by a benefactor to be part of an ancient weapon, thus providing them their first concrete lead of the Quest to follow since their arrival.

The Author looks to draw in his readers the same way he draws in players of his Role-Playing Game: characters with individuality, a setting with substance, and a story that leaves the reader wondering what will happen next.

    1. Anticipation of the Penitent

    2. 4.99

    3. I’ve just updated this blurb. It’s on the paperback description now, but will be on the Kindle description in a day or two.

After Alezea is trapped by the Devil, she bears him a son and knows her life will never be her own. She is the mother of Thomas, a man reared by Satan to be a killer of life’s most innocent – little girls. Alezea lives detached from the horrors committed by her son and from her domination by the entity who uses her as he pleases. Until she meets Martha who shows her a way out. Now Alezea will risk her very soul to free Thomas from his father. The fight to save her son will either redeem Alezea or destroy her forever.

Rachel knows Thomas’ history, yet she believes her presence can transform him. Her belief in Thomas might send her fully into the Devil’s realm or provide an opening for God’s miracles in both of their lives. In a scheme to continue his father’s line, Thomas may ruin his alliance with Rachel or rend himself from the dominion he was born to hold. The impulse to contrive his future takes Thomas to new heights in his lifework as a killer, pushes him toward maturity, and forces him to encounter the astonishing truth of his heritage.

Anticipation of the Penitent depicts the battle between good and evil in one family until it is rendered to its destined completion. Only then will it be known whether Alezea succeeds in her struggle to be free from Satan’s control.

And rather than trying to catch a killer, they cover for one. Yet while they yearn to join Nick’s club, the task is too dreadful to complete. The killer gets closer. 27. The Cobb Legacy

Cagney Nowak is writing a novel around the 1905 shooting death of baseball legend Ty Cobb’s father, William, by his mother a week before Ty was called up by the Detroit Tigers. Although she was acquitted by an all-male jury on the grounds that the incident was accidental, the townspeople of Royston, Georgia, thought otherwise. Gossip had it that Amanda Cobb, at age thirty-three — and twenty years her husband’s junior — was having an affair and that William, having told her he was going out of town on business, returned to catch her with her lover. At her trial, the questions were never raised as to why she had locked her second story window on a hot August night, or why she’d shot twice — surely she knew, after firing the first barrel of her shotgun, at whom she was shooting? A boyhood friend of Ty’s was first on the scene that night, claiming years later that he knew that Amanda had had a lover with her that night, and that he even knew who it was …

When Cagney begins to relive the night of the shooting in his dreams, more than a century later and in the guise of Amanda Cobb, he is led to discover his father’s deepest secret. More than a mystery, The Cobb Legacy is the story of a man’s efforts to connect with his dying father, a World War II veteran suffering from what today is known as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and to come to terms with his obsession over the Cobb legacy as well as his own adulterous affair and impending divorce, while doubting that love with an old friend can be his.

This imaginative quest takes her from the Caribbean to Glasgow’s own City of the Dead. Along the way, she finds herself taking part in a rather unconventional funeral, involved in a voodoo ritual, reveals one or two unrests in her own past and falls madly in love with a doctor. This time, though, she was all alone when she watched her life crash and burn, and Anna wondered if she could rise from the ashes. 1. The Song of the Tree

    2. Amazon 2.99

    3. Despite promises of eternal joy given by the Tree of Life, a privileged young woman loses everything in a brutal war. Her husband disappears; her family is murdered; her home is burned to the ground.

Desperate, starving, and burdened with an unwanted child, she now despises and rejects the Tree she once worshiped. Ripped from her land and people, forced into survival immigration, she becomes a lowly refugee, a servant in the homes of the rich. Her unusually gifted child thrives, but is an ever present reminder of ultimate loss and betrayal.

Two women: one broken, the other rooted in bitterness, continue to be drawn towards the song of a Tree that will not let them go. Along roads of degrading poverty and equally destructive wealth, each much wrestle with the siren call of perfect love, and its altar sacrifice of perfect trust.

The Song of the Tree is an intense, contemporary allegory that moves the God-seeker from fist shaking stance, down to knees before the throne.

  33. 1) Why I Am Not Enlightened

    2) $2.99

    3) Enlightenment is not for the faint of heart, or as Eliezer Sobel makes clear, for those without a sense of humor. Why I Am Not Enlightened is a penetrating, insightful, and –above all – genuinely funny meditation on the quest for gnosis and its discontents.

Where does the spiritual path take us? What does “enlightenment” mean, really? In this concise recounting of his personal journey along the highways and byways of the spiritual search, Eliezer pursues these questions while calling on 30 years of study with a remarkable array of teachers, gurus, shamans, healers, channelers, yogis, and more.

“I personally met Satchidananda, Krishnananda, Kriyananda, Muktananda, the whole Ananda family,” he writes. “I sat in reverence before Sai Baba, Baba Muktananda, Adi Da Samraj the Ruchira Avatar, the Dalai Lama, Adyashanti, Poonjaji, Ammachi, Master Nome (pronounced “No-Me,” get it?) Siddhi Ma, Guru Mayi, and Harold Klemp the Eck master of Eckankar…. So don’t ever accuse me of not making an effort.”

The wisdom that Eliezer has gleaned from these encounters shines through in this thoroughly enjoyable reflection on the wonders and ironies of the spiritual life. You might even find it enlightening.

  36. 1. Trophy

    2. $2.99 Kindle version

    3. Imagine an Earth restored to perfection under the care of ten women Guardians, who answer only to a governing computer. Imagine a peaceful, colonized Solar System. This is what the New Victorian Empire has accomplished in the 475 years of its existence. Now mankind faces extinction because of a genetic mutation caused by the catastrophic collapse of Earth’s environment in 2065 A.D., the year the Empire began. The Keyhole anomaly, a wormhole in space, offers a solution: time-travel to transport genetically sound humans from the past.

Renegade nuclear engineer Louis Franelli has developed the technology of that time-travel, which his employer, criminal and rebel Galen Bestmarke, is using to go back to 1975 A.D. to collect hunting trophies and establish a slave-trade through time. The Empire is desperate to recover Franelli and his technology so that they can use it to save mankind. The Planetary Control Corps (PCC) under the direction of the Guardians, Star-Commander Abigail VanDevere, and the dynamic young team of Lieutenant Janet Rogerton and Pilot Kolanna face the daunting task of stopping Bestmarke and capturing Franelli. Can the determined officers of the PCC succeed? Can they do so in time?

Trophy is the first book of the Trophy Saga, a future look at a pivotal time in mankind’s history. It tells the story of the continuing struggle to prevent the extinction of the human race. At the end of the book is a handy glossary that fills in many details about the setting.

  37. Book title: 1 Law 4 All (pen name) Billy Angel
    List price 4.99

1 Law 4 All enters the realm of politics from stage left. The fictional characters, places and events are imaginably true. The book’s drama could easily be a real-life account because of the distressing nature of politics.

1 Law 4 All portrays simple-minded politics in a fictional manner. The human nature of the characters is far from fictional. Greed, arrogance and pride are pitted against the desire for safety, fairness and generosity. Revenge catalyzes the character’s actions and the ensuing drama.

1 Law 4 All displays man’s multi-faceted human nature. The storyline skillfully merges daily drama with life’s little pleasures. As the existence of good and evil becomes evident, the artfully contrived personal exchanges draw the reader into the book’s reality.

A Senator, mob boss and multi-national corporation conspire against an innocent Samoan girl. Kitiona’s adventure begins in American Samoa, continues to San Francisco and reaches into the halls of the U.S. Congress.

  42. Stalking Carlos Castaneda
    Book Description
    Publication Date: September 20, 2012
In 1972, professional dancer Joan Wulfsohn underwent a double mastectomy. And her soon-to-be-ex-husband abducted their three children and spirited them away to a foreign country. “I should have died,” Joan writes. But she didn’t. Stalking Carlos Castaneda chronicles her journey back to life by way of lessons learned from stunning transvestites and music hall dancers, teen porn stars, a brain damaged boy, Eastern holy men, Western supermodels and a certain aging sorcerer. It is the story of how one woman learned to live a magical life—bound not by spells and hexes but rather filled with wonder and transcendence.

    1) Storm Warning – A Kelli Storm Novel

When her new partner is shot during a botched robbery, Detective Kelli Storm never expected that the trail of the shooter would lead her to Colombian drug lord Miguel Garcia; the man who’s cousin she had killed months earlier, and had made numerous attempts on her life. A man she had believed to be dead.

Detectives Kelli Storm and Eric Ryder follow the bloody trail of a notorious drug kingpin from the streets of Washington Heights, New York and south to Medellin, Colombia.

When the suspect in her partner’s shooting is killed while in custody, the man makes a startling deathbed confession. With this revelation, Kelli finds herself unwillingly thrown back into the world of the drug cartels. With the aid of DEA Special Agent Gregory Larsen and Narcotics Detective Javier Vasquez, Kelli works to stop the Cartel’s operations in the city, and bring down the notorious drug lord.

    1) Evil Town

    2) $2.99

    3) The wife of popular Florida Congressman (and prospective Senatorial candidate) Clegg Caffery is murdered. FBI Special Agent Matt Thurston begins an investigation that leads him from the Pentagon to the small town of Clewiston, Florida in search of a photographer responsible for the photo found in the murdered woman’s hand. He arrives too late. The man has committed suicide. Although Thurston uncovers a strange and suspicious story about the dead photographer that he believes is worthy of continued investigation, he is abruptly steered away from the case by his superiors.

Angered by this turn of events, Thurston enlists the assistance of two reporters. With their involvement, he begins to peel away layers of lies and deceit hiding the truth about the murder. Along the way, Thurston slowly unravels a complex weave of story lines that includes a sex for hire plot involving the President’s wife; an attempt by computer magnate Norman Bremen to subvert the workings of Congress to ensure the survival of his sugar interests in Florida; and the revelation of a cover-up of a war crime in Vietnam that threatens the Presidency.

Although Evil Town is a work of fiction, it is based on historical and current events. The Vietnam element of the plot delves into the massacre of Vietnamese villagers at Co Luy. This occurred on the same day as the My Lai killings and happened as described in the novel. The military and political cover-up of the incident detailed in Evil Town is an interpretation of actual events that relegated Co Luy to the back pages of history.

The description of the political maneuvering related to the restoration of the Everglades, and to the “sugar wars” in Florida, is a dramatization of the intrigue currently being played out by power brokers, the media and Congress on this issue.

While it should come as no surprise that the drug war can be managed and waged for political purposes – a subplot in Evil Town – it is the subtleties of international politics that often allow this to happen. The novel provides insight on how this is possible.

Through it all, Matt Thurston and his allies match wits with the most powerful in Washington putting themselves in harm’s way. Truth, honor and justice are slippery concepts in this story of politics and fragile human relationships.

  52. Vivian? You having some difficulty?

  53. I’d love for you to read either of my first two novels Maryan. However, I feel the need to warn you I never considered sex to be bad, so the first book has been called EROTIC. That being said, the sex establishes that vampires in general, including my guardian vampires, do not follow human hang-ups about sex. The first book of the series is, “Immortal Relations” and it had a killer review by a gentleman named Richard Raasmussen, in which he called it, “…my holy grail of vampire novels.” Unfortunately, I have no way of expressing my gratitude to him (I wanted to send him a pre-release copy of my second book, “Immortal Relations, Love and War”) which has yet to have any reviews. Perhaps that is the ebook you might want to read (especially as it has far less sex, or as I like to call it “explicit togetherness” than the first), both are available on Amazon & Kindle and the third in the series, “Immortal Relations Coming Out” is in work and will also be available as the first two (probably Summer of 2013). If you are still interested, here is the link to IML&W:

    Immortal Relations, Love and War

    Amazon-Kindle $2.99

The enemy vampires have been eradicated, so it appears our guardian vampires may look forward to a peaceful existence. Eviana is planning on having more children, she has had a son, now she wants a daughter. Magdalena, believing she is incapable of having children, still would like to be married. However, much as in human life, peace and family are placed in harms’ way by unforseen events.

Immortal Relations, Love & War amps up the action of the first book to a fever pitch. The greedy leaders of Communist China plan to capture the oil, gold and mineral rish fields of Siberia by decapitationg the Russian Federations’ Government as a prelude to invasion. Minions of rich OPEC Sheiks seek to stem the flow of Russian Oild so OPEC can raise prices to destroy the economies of the West. The plan to use a “dirty bomb” to destroy the main pumping station and have the radiation make the oil fields unusable.

The radiation containment cap at Chernobyl is failing; the release of poisonous radiation could happen at any time. Worse, some scientists predict the damaged nuclear reactor at Fukushima, Japan could collapse and cause a potential Extinction Level Event!

Who, or what, can be called upon to save civilization and mankind and what impact will the vampire covents experience? Could potentially catastrophic events turn out to offer unforseen opportunities?

I do hope you will preview the “Look Inside” feature of the first book, Immortal Relations to see that the series was started by a real event…my late father had a tryst with a young lady while in Czechoslovakia, immediately after the end of WW-II while working for a certain agency. It is at:
http://amzn.com/B006ZCBT6G I’m 70 years old, and computer challenged, so I hope I’ve done this correctly.

  54. Hey hi!
I’m happy to see your book here, and never apologize for your writing. If you material is explicit, then it is. I have six kids and eight grand children, so I’m pretty familiar with how humans relate physically 🙂

May I respectfully suggest you proofread your Amazon blurb and make a few mechanical corrections? It will represent your book in a more positive light from the first glance. I put your book in our database, and will consider it thoroughly along with the others as I select books to read and review. Nice to meet you!

  55. thanks! And yes, this has been very cool to do.

  56. Thank you, perhaps since I hand wrote what I sent to you, I missed a few from the back of the book. I couldn’t afford a proof reader but my wife did the best she could on both books (she is a lot smarter about computers than I am). Neither book is up to “Harvard Review” standards, I’m sure, but I am more interested in the stories than style and mechanics. 🙂

  57. Well, Guy, I know what you mean, but that is going to work against the development of a nice big audience, readers kind of look for respect from authors. To each his own though.

Blurb: HEARTLAND was a one of five finalists out of nearly a thousand entries in the 2010 Young Adult Novel Discovery Contest sponsored by the Gotham Writers Workshop.

Sixteen-year-old TOM ALLEN’s life is imploding. His father banished Tom from his life; Tom’s stepfather is entirely too interested in commenting on Tom’s behavior. What makes it worse is that his stepfather’s comments are usually right on target. Then Tom’s beloved grandma suffers a stroke, which leaves his mother emotionally distant. Meanwhile his older sister is too sophisticated to worry about his concerns.

When Tom reads an old family memoir from his grandma’s cedar chest he becomes intrigued by his ancestors’ accounts of their struggle to form one unified family from two shattered families. They face man-made and natural dangers while they battle to survive smoldering conflicts in “Bleeding Kansas” that will soon erupt into the bloodiest war in American history — the Civil War. With the help of family and friends, past and present, Tom gradually comes to terms with the pain and possibilities of his own family.

  71. Hi Maryan,
Thank you for your generous and very kind offer to buy and review books.
I hope you will enjoy my book, The Flyball 5, if I am lucky enough to be selected.

Here are the details you requested.

    1 Title = THE FLYBALL 5: The adventures of 5 abandoned puppies – by K. J. Mansfield

    2 List price = $2.99

3 Blurb = In a lay-by beside a dual carriageway fifty miles north of London on a freezing cold night just before Christmas, a heavily built man drags a bulging black bin bag out of the back of a battered old transit van and throws the bag down a steep incline towards a large moonlit pond.
Just before the bag is about to plunge into the pond, it splits asunder and out cascade five dazed puppies.

When the bin bag, weighed down by two house bricks, sinks below the surface of the pond, without its intended live cargo, the man curses before jumping back into his van and driving off into the night leaving the puppies to face their fate.

The Flyball 5 follows the adventures of the five puppies as they struggle to survive the ordeal of being dumped.

Gradually the puppies become separated during that first terrifying night and their adventures and the people they encounter after they are parted are radically different.
However, more than a year after they were abandoned the five dogs are reunited due to the fact each of them has an exceptional talent for the hugely popular sport of Flyball and that’s when their story takes an unexpected and dramatic twist.

Set in present times, The Flyball 5 is not a cartoon style story with talking animals.
The characters in the book and the dogs’ adventures are perfectly possible.
The Flyball 5 is exciting and entertaining and can be read and enjoyed by everyone.

  87. Greetings, Ms. Pelland. Your offer is intriguing and quite clever. I will suggest my two volume saga.
Title: God, Glory and Gold: Journey to the Conquest of the Incas, The Beginning.
    Kindle list price: $8.99
    Amazon Blurb:
Book One opens our saga in early 15th century Hispania. The Kingdoms of Castile and Aragon had yet to bootstrap themselves into a coherent power on the Iberian Peninsula. Isabella of Trastamara, third in line for the crown of Castile, is embraced by a few disgruntled nobles who improbably install her successfully as Queen. Through the tireless, clever, visionary intrigues, alliances, and wars of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile, an impoverished, ungovernable patchwork of old fiefdoms was painfully corralled to face off against common enemies instead of themselves, the Muslins in Granada. When she succeeds in expelling the Muslims in 1492, she takes a gamble on a fellow visionary, Christopher Columbus, and authorizes his first three voyages that secures a vast New World of territory for the Crown.

The discovery spawns a generation of militant entrepreneurs, later called conquistadors, who set out to make the New World theirs. Many were born poor soldiers or peasant farmers from Extramadura. They were adventurers who saw an opportunity to leave the endless wars of 16th century Europe, particularly after Hernan Cortes toppled the Aztec empire of Montezuma. They did not know exactly what they would find in the unexplored New World to the south of Mexico, Hispaniola and Panama, but they were willing to gamble their lives for what they knew they would never have if they remained on the Iberian Peninsula. Many had seen the fragmented kingdoms of modern day Italy in the Italian Wars – and a life far better there than their homeland, which was still recovering from the decades of struggle against Muslin occupiers. They had fought, but were still poor. Intuitively, the leaders, such as young Francisco Pizarro, believed the unknown lands to the south of Panama would give them the chance to be something, with 2,000 miles of distance from the rules and reach of the Crown and the Church.

For the crown of Castile, the New World presented the chance to secure gold and silver treasure that could fund a renaissance for the people – and the nobility. Queen Isabella’s treasury was nearly empty and King Ferdinand needed funding for his Kingdom of Aragon’s interminable challenges from France for his Kingdom of Naples. Thus began a two century long dependency of the Crown on the flow of vast treasures from the conquistadors

Ensconced in their isolated, insulated world, Book One also recounts the Inca nation driving to its zenith as 1500 dawned. Over the course of five generations, the leadership had adapted the best elements of earlier civilizations of the Chavin, Tiuanuoco, Huari, Wari, Chimu, Moche, Nazca and the Amayra into an administrative masterpiece of government built on an astutely conceived ideology centered on a God King, the Sapa Inca. Stretching down two thousand five hundred miles of coastline and with at least six million people during the peak of this culture, the Inca leadership had crafted a practical, holistic style of communal living, which allowed people to survive passably well in harsh, multifaceted climates. The Inca “empire” was certainly reliant on military force at various times of it’s spectacular growth, but, this theocracy was also a delicate web of feigned or genuine alliances, secured through improving the productivity of the land, diplomacy and building infrastructure which arguably surpassed the Roman Empire in its scope. The “empire” flourished for a century because there was more food, water and security than in the past.

Three dynamic and tenacious men achieved this feat. Pachecutec, Topa Inca Yupanque and Huayna Capac, supported by a host of dedicated lieutenants, deftly applied their leadership skills while navigating the intrigues of rival family groups. The arrival of the “bearded men”, the Castilians, on their shores presented a challenge never encountered before.

  88. Ms. Pelland, Book One, noted above, leads you to the heart of the Conquest saga in Volume Two.
Title: Gold, Glory and Gold: Journey to the Conquest of the Inca- The Quest
    Kindle List Price: $9.99
Amazon Blurb: The long, improbable journey to the Conquest of the Incas is an incredible, modern story. While the Inca Empire was expanding along the Pacific coast of South America, the backward Kingdom of Castile and Leon was mired in political intrigue. This is a story of courage, luck, colossal misjudgments and soaring ambition by entrepreneurs who would lead a culture clash ending in the fall of the Inca Empire and the rise of the Spanish Empire that lasted two hundred years due to Inca treasure. All the players sought the same things: independence, security, honor, wealth and glory. Few achieved their goals in any lasting sense but many displayed the indomitable spirit of motivated visionaries. This is their story.

    Hi Maryan,

The book of mine I would love for you to buy and read is, In My Wildest Dreams. The price is $3.99 and is on Amazon Kindle at:

Here is the blurb: Joshua Whitley was a man working on his career goals when he met Julia Cusack in a lunch room one day. Julia was a beautiful young lady with career goals much like his. Yes, it was truly love at first sight for Josh, the name most people called him. Over time Josh and Julia became romantically involved and eventually married. They purchased the home of their dreams and started their family. However, their plan for life was soon to be derailed with an issue that was beyond their ability to solve. Life changed dramatically for Josh as his dreams for happiness spun out of control. Then an unexpected set of events in a family already marred with tragedy caused a change none in the family could have known would happen. Life for Josh went from being lonely, dull and boring, to a life filled with new hope and happiness for the future. In his wildest dreams Josh could never have planned what was about to happen to him, but it did happen. He met a new love in a place he never dreamed, in the same family as his previous wife Julia, and the rest as they say, is history.
Was it fate that threw Josh and Dianne together at the most critical time of their lives? Nobody could know for sure, but it was a match that had to be made in heaven. From the time they were first together as a couple, it was almost magic how success came to the two of them, both in love and in their separate business ventures. Obstacles that would have stopped others from getting together were simply viewed as challenges to be overcome by Josh and Dianne. This is an epic story of how love can overcome almost any obstacle if the passion is present.
Don’t think everything went smooth as silk for them though, because that would be a huge mistake. There is tragedy throughout this remarkable story, the loss of spouses, of parents, and even the horrible death of Dianne’s mother, all of which sent shock waves through this strong young couple as they struggled for success in life.
Dianne made a totally unexpected career change when she realized she had seen in a vision where the body of a missing elderly woman was located, a woman she had never met or knew personally. When Dianne was questioned about how she knew of the location of the dead woman, her responses gave the local authorities cause to see a need to solicit her help in other unsolved murder cases.
The story takes so many unpredictable turns it is difficult to write a synopsis that includes all the major parts of the story, but let it suffice to say the reader will be astonished by the unfolding of the story. It is a story that includes most of the elements one could possibly expect in a really great love story.

    Thank you,

    Title: Marx & Ford
    ebook price: $9.99

    Amazon Blurb:

This is the story of twins, Tom & John Staid, who are raised in Pennsylvania; are exhorted to live with courage by their father; and take their natural bond for granted as they encounter life´s challenges. This lasts through their adventurous high school years. Both have outsized ambition and jocularly talk of ´ruling the world´: Tom chooses sociology and John chooses engineering as nearly opposite approaches to their reach for greatness. Tom regards positively directing society as the highest good whereas John considers creating wealth through technical achievement as the pinnacle of humanity.

This difference spawns a longstanding intellectual and life-choice debate that starts in college where they believe their disagreements are minor. In the real world, their experiences sharpen their views and fuel a rivalry and struggle that will both engage and challenge the reader. This fiction will fill the readers’ minds with opposing ideas and intellectual debate as the twins each grapple with the consequences of their choices.

  104. Hi Maryan,

How generous of you to do this. Here’s my contribution.

Sued by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of South Dakota for custody of the child she adopted years earlier, Kate Sommers will do anything to keep the little girl. When the Tribal Council pressures her to bring the child to the Standing Rock so that she can be with her people, Kate uproots her life in order to appease them. But when the Council decrees that the child should have a mother and a father, Kate is forced to comply with ancient tribal tradition by marrying her late husband’s brother.

Russell Night Horse reluctantly agrees to let Kate and her daughter stay with him until the matter is resolved. His heart scarred by betrayal, he lives a solitary existence training draft horses on his ranch. Although he admires Kate for her courage and determination and secretly desires her, he doesn’t want or need a wife. But his growing feelings for the outspoken white woman and the little girl born with a hole in her heart threaten his resolve to remain alone and uninvolved, and he begins to long for the love and the family he has always dreamed of having.

Kate tried once before to fit into the Lakota world and is fearful of trying again, no matter how much she yearns for the handsome Lakota rancher. Before Russ can convince her that her place is there with him, the child is kidnapped. As they race against time to find her, the trail leads to love and a sinister plot fueled by a long-kept family secret.

Betrayal is the story of two women, separated by thousands of miles and almost five hundred years: modern day Lydia Hamilton and Elisabeth Beeton, a lady’s maid to Henry the Eighth’s second wife, Anne Boleyn.

Lydia is a modern woman, happily in love with her physician boyfriend and living in Canada, until she begins to have nightmares that seem all too realistic. She dreams of a girl, a prison cell and a beheading. In her dreams Lydia finds herself in Elisabeth’s body experiencing the girl’s sixteenth century life. Lydia tries to ignore these vivid dreams as long as she can, that is, until a mysterious book arrives in a Christmas parcel from England.

Lydia flies back to her mother’s ancestral home in Devon, England, where the lies of her family’s past begin to reveal themselves. Suddenly, Lydia is caught up in the quest to uncover the truth behind Elisabeth’s betrayal.

    Title: When Kingmakers Speak
    ebook price: $9.99

When Kingmakers Speak is a well written thriller that builds up gripping suspense, yet reveals enough to keep us deeply engaged and anxious to know what is going to happen next. Set in the early sixties, the novel reflects some of the fundamental but hidden issues besetting Singapore. Not yet fully independent, not yet a nation, it was a period when the island was caught between a British colonial world not quite withdrawn, and a national one not quite born, when the Communists remained a serious urban threat and gangsters had considerable influence. The main plot turns around a planned assasination and is linked to a sub-plot involving Sato, a Japanese soldier-samurai who had remained in hiding after Japan surrendered, and whose values and actions are guided by a combination of Bushido and Christianty.””

  108. A Presence in Russell County

Dirty cops … a strangled community … a secret justice system. Welcome to RUSSELL COUNTY.

When Samantha Biggers is continually harassed by a police officer in rural Russell County, Georgia, she turns to a man she’s known only online. John Hollingsworth, a retired Army officer, and his former sergeant, Stuart Crogan, uncover more than just police harassment of the locals. There’s drug running, loan sharking, robbery–and murder.

When it’s learned that the cop who’s been bothering Sam was also responsible for her husband’s death, Hollingsworth and Crogan seek justice via a secret group of private citizens.

When average citizens are at the mercy of corrupt law enforcement, they often suffer in silence, having no one to turn to, no one left to trust. With its exacting standards for judicial conduct and procedure, and its vast network of resources, The Organization offers a level playing field that allows true justice to emerge.

RUSSELL COUNTY is the first volume in a series about The Organization. The second, MULBERRY, is nearly complete. The third volume is in progress.

    Hi Maryan,
The name of my book is “A Beautiful Glittering Lie” The kindle edition is only $1.99!

In the spring of 1861, a country once united is fractured by war. Half of America fights for the Confederate cause; the other, for unification. Rebel forces have already seized Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines, a new Confederate president has been elected, and the Constitution has been revised. In north Alabama, a farmer and father of three decides to enlist. For Hiram Summers, it is the end of everything he has ever known.

After Hiram travels to Virginia with the Fourth Alabama Infantry Regiment, he is quickly thrust into combat. His son, David, who must stay behind, searches for adventure at home by traipsing to Huntsville with his best friend, Jake Kimball, to scrutinize invading Yankees. Meanwhile, Caroline – Hiram’s wife and David’s mother – struggles to keep up with the farm as her world revolves around the letters she receives from her husband, whom she misses dearly. As Hiram and his son discover the true meaning of war, they soon realize that their choices have torn their family apart.

In this historical tale, the naïveté of a young country is tested, a father sacrifices everything to defend his home, and a young man longs for adventure – regardless of the perilous cost.

This novel is loosely based on relatives and the journal of a soldier. It is the first in a series. Thank you for your consideration.

Title: Peter Cooper and the Pirate King

    Price: $7.99

Blurb: What do magic amulets, giant scorpions, a maniacal sorcerer and an adventurous boy have in common? Well, normally not much but in Peter Cooper and the Pirate King you’ll find that sometimes they do.

From the time Peter Cooper is a baby he’s lived up with his aunt and uncle after losing his war hero dad and loving mom under mysterious circumstances. Despite the loss he grows up happy in their happy home without a clue that a centuries-old madman has him in his sights and is planning to use the young lad to rejuvenate his eternal soul.

Early on, all seems normal for our young hero (save for the occasional strange dreams of malevolent ovens and melting clowns; a portent to come?) until the night of his thirteenth birthday when a terrible storm hits his hometown of Harmon and brings not only overwhelming rain but also a visitor of unimaginable evil. The Pirate King, Bill Kyuper, has been getting “creaky” over the years and has Peter lined up for his latest “age-defying” treatment. When Bill arrives in Harmon he works his “magic” to get Peter from point A to point… and manipulate him to his lair on Scorpion Cove for the ultimate battle.
But, before he does, we meet an eclectic group of friends and sailors both at Peter’s home and on Harmon’s docks as well as Peter’s first crush. The story is touching and horrifying and excruciatingly funny. There are moments when you will laugh and cry and other’s where you will not want to turn the lights off as you follow Peter and his friends on the ultimate journey of good versus evil.

  112. Thanks for the opportunity, Maryan!

    Rockapocalypse: A Disharmony of Justice
1974 It started out as a typical summer in a small southern town for 15-yr old Pete Travers and his friends, until the real rock stars showed up. Real dead that is. When bizarre occurrences, unexplained disappearances, and outpourings of prejudice become frequent in Harper’s Mill, the four friends discover they’ve been destined for a gig far more challenging than anything they ever imagined. The rockers join forces with the four teens to rid the town of a hatred so intense, it has bred its own evil in the most unlikely of places. But will they succeed?
Thirty-seven years later, record industry mogul Peter Travers lies in a coma as the result of a horrific auto accident. As he teeters between life and death, he relives the life-changing events from the past in his mind. When his friends reunite to stand watch and offer their support, they realize Peter’s auto crash was no accident. They also discover that the powers that saved them all those years ago have returned. But the question that burns in their hearts is: Why?
The power of music’s timeless message, the bonds of friendship, and a gift from God culminate in a cataclysmic battle that reaches to the gates of heaven.
Is their faith strong enough to protect Peter and his family from the evil force that struggles to claim what he deems rightfully his – Peter’s very soul?”

    Portrait of Our Marriage

Fun • Sexy • Intense • Hot • Compelling • Thought Provoking, and So Real you may find it Shocking, even Disturbing.
Inspired by an episode on Oprah from years ago that dealt with men addicted to porn, a dream, and information from 8 women’s lives, Portrait of Our Marriage, is a story you don’t want to miss. Nicky, embarks on a journey to find herself and become her own person despite the legacy of a domineering father and an emotionally—and often physically—distant husband.
Reminiscing events from her life, she looks at pictures and remembers romance, falling in love, marriage, and family.
This is the story of one woman’s life as her husbands interest in pornography becomes an obsession that ultimately changes both of them.
Although this is a fictional memoir and only one woman’s journey, many women today deal with this issue in silence, feeling ashamed and embarrassed.
What would you endure for love?

Nicky led a sheltered life until she met Brett: An adventurous, handsome, smart, and exciting lover. She had never known this kind of love before, either emotionally or physically. She pictured her life with Brett as a partner, a friend, and a father to her future children. And when they married, Nicky knew she had found everything her heart and body desired.

But when Brett’s fantasy world of racy magazines, explicit videos, and disturbing internet porn becomes an obsession and affects their marriage, Nicky has to ask herself: What happened to the man I married?

Portrait of Our Marriage is the story of one woman’s journey.

    Price: $4.99.

    Inspired by True Experiences

Stephanie enjoys her life as a successful entrepreneur in Australia. When she returns to visit her native India, to seek a cure for her beloved dog, it is during the Festival of Holi–the celebration of colours. Young and old flirt and misbehave in the streets, enjoying an uninhibited sexual atmosphere.

And it is there that she sees him again…

Surely, it couldn’t be Tics–not the great love of her youth!

Familiar shivers run up her spine. It’s been ten long years. But despite the rekindled feelings of attraction, there is also the harsh memory of his betrayal.
And Stephanie is married now …

ON THE WINGS OF AUTUMN transports you from the lush, idyllic countryside of The Hunter Valley and Canberra in Australia, to the exotic ambiance of Bangalore, India. It’s more than the chronicle of one young woman’s personal journey through life.

It’s the tale of her search for purpose.
Of her quest for unconditional, unlimited love.
Of a uniquely unforgettable romantic triangle.

Stephanie Marie Roberts makes her grand debut with a poignant and passionate novel, inspired by true experiences from her own life.

If you’ve enjoyed The Notebook, The Lucky One, and Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, you will be captivated by ON THE WINGS OF AUTUMN.

“It is with tears in my eyes that I must tell you I am so very moved. Your depth of emotion is wonderful–what more could anyone ask of a book than that the author gives so much of herself? I could not put it down till the end.” –Jenny Richardson, First Wednesday’s Book Club

“A heart-warming and enlightened story that’s fun, interesting, exciting, sad at times and very honest. The settings are amazing and well-painted, from India to Australia, really engaging the reader with the characters and their lives. Powerful lessons on love, relationships, personal growth, and healing with human beings and animals run subtly through the book, woven into engaging story.” –Julie Roberts

“A very special love story, with experiences taken from the author’s life–what better basis for an interesting and absorbing novel? The story unfolds to reveal different kinds of love; love between lovers and couples; love between humans and animals; love in families; love between friends; and most importantly, love of ONESELF! A must read for those who love LOVE!” –May Rennick

“Thank you Stephanie for the chance to read this wonderful book. I loved it!” –Colleen Brown

“Brilliant, wonderful, uplifting … thank you, my wonderful teacher of LIFE!” –Louisa Russell

“A must-read for anyone convinced their pets
read their mind, offer comfort during trying times and would
gladly give up their lives to save ours.”
Denice Thibodeau Journalist and Editor, Virginia, USA

“ON THE WINGS OF AUTUMN – I like the title. It promises much and delivers it. An interesting and pleasant read.
Romance books are not my choice of reading matter, but it seems to me that this is one of those, with lots of descriptive writing about love and longing, and must appeal to the romantics amongst us. However, there is a good story there, be it fiction or autobiography, with lots of detail about personal and emotional conflict which a lot of us can relate to. The human dependence on pets, particularly dogs, is well described and unusually and refreshingly so. I cannot comment on the spiritualism incorporated in the story as I haven’t been able to embrace the medium, but I do believe that there are forces in the Universe which influence our moods and decisions. Well done, Stephanie.”– Ena Willemsen
