Inspire Your Writing or Ghostwriting with Free Books by Women
I’m always looking for books to inspire my thinking or jumpstart an idea. My author clients ask me how they can overcome writers’ block (one way is to use my book 1001 Brilliant Ideas for Any Writer to Steal) or take their book authoring to the next level. Today I stumbled on a cool site from the University of Pennsylvania. Their digital library features free books you can download or read, and one section of that digital library is dedicated to women writers.
I love to empower writers and authors and I love to empower women, so the website drew me in right away. Called, a CELEBRATION OF WOMEN WRITERS, the site is edited by Mary Mark Ockerbloom. Apparently this collection has been online since 1994 and gets a lot of traffic. The full digital library indexes more than one million titles, so it’s a perfect place to hang out and browse the “stacks.”
They don’t store any book onsite, but link you to sites where you can read or download in various formats, sometimes just text. For more information, visit the Online Books Library FAQ.
And by the way, there’s a brand new book by a woman writer I know intimately.
The book is AWESOME WOMAN: INVENTING YOUR OWN FUTURE. It’s a non-fiction kind of self-help book filled with gentle, homey solutions for the everyday challenges that we women face as we attempt to become our best selves. The book is heavily iluustrated with high quality, beautiful, and inspirational photographs. It’s easy and fun to read, a delightful gift for women in your life, and a steal at it’s current digital price.
